what positive measures should organizations take to ensure that employees are prepared to take on the day-to-day human relations communication challenges associated with working as the member of a team?
response
When it comes to organizations and teams, we know that almost all successful organizations utilize the team model. The GM model, or the one where you have one “boss” is known to fail. A rival franchise of my store, has been supremely unsuccessful even though they are at a better location than us. This is due to the fact that they follow a GM model, one person is the General Manager and he is in charge. At our store, we have many directors on a team, and we have many small teams below us and under each director. We collaborate as one big team and also as several smaller teams. This is what makes us stand out from the rest.
This weeks reading taught us how important it is to create strong bonds in the workplace. So how does a workplace help facilitate this and prepare their employees for their day-to-day human relations challenges? The organization can use certain rules of engagement. Some of these things include, a regular meeting schedule, agreeing upon levels of authority and also understanding individual personalities and characters. The more you try to understand someone, the better. Employers have to help build this interpersonal skills in their individuals so that they can go off and build these strong relationships.
