An allegory is basically an extended metaphor, so for this discussion, we are going to be investigating The Cave as a metaphor. To begin, draw a diagram of the cave that Plato describes.

Once you have done this take a look at your drawing. For this discussion begin by making a list of the elements you included in the drawing and discussing what each of these elements is symbolic of.

For instance, in my drawing, there is the light outside of the cave. This light represents the divine, but it also represents truth. This light is what philosophers are supposed to be moving toward, suggesting that philosophers are truth-seekers, more so than the average person.
